Yas Waterworld just announced when the new slides are coming (it's pretty soon)
Abu Dhabi's favourite waterpark is levelling up. Big time. Yas Waterworld Yas Island is about to unveil its biggest expansion ever and it's opening to the public on Monday July 1. The splash-tastic new zone adds over 20 new rides, slides and water-based thrills, turning the already legendary park into a full-on aquatic mega-playground with 60+ attractions. So, what's new? Well, the expansion dives deeper into the park's 'Legend of the Lost Pearl' story with a brand-new 'Lost City' theme – think hidden treasures, ancient secrets and non-stop action. Adrenaline seekers, make a beeline for Bahamut's Rage, a wild log flume ride that delivers all the drops and none of the chill. Or go head-to-head with your mates on Al Falaj Race – the region's first side-by-side duelling tube raft ride. Little thrill-seekers haven't been left out either. Al Sahel Junior is the region's first mini zero-gravity boomerango (yes, really) and Dawwama Junior offers a pint-sized spin on one of the park's most iconic slides. And it doesn't stop there. You'll also find Al Mafras, a kid-friendly desert slide with smooth turns and splash landings; Red Dunes, a twisting closed aqua tube ride; the swirling chaos of Sadaf Swirl; and the maze-like madness of Mataha. Need a break between thrills? Head to the all-new Bandit's Village, home to Bandit's Playground – an interactive splash zone for families to cool off and run wild. There's also a brand-new dining spot to refuel before round two. Miral, the creators behind Yas Waterworld, say this bold upgrade puts the park at the forefront of global water-based entertainment. And honestly? We're here for it. July 1 onwards. Yas Waterworld Yas Island. This summer, Louvre Abu Dhabi is super summer-ready and we can't wait to see what's on. This summer, the gallery boasts new masterpieces on display showing off everything from Giacometti's tall and thoughtful sculptures to a vibrant piece by Kandinsky, plus rare treasures like a 14th-century mosque lamp. If you're keen to catch something spectacular, take in Una Bulaqueña – a two-metre Filipino masterpiece by Juan Luna. Meanwhile, you can take the little ones to explore Picturing the Cosmos at the Children's Museum, where kids learn for free. Need a breather from the indoors? Kayaking and catamaran sailing around the museum are still available during summer, so you can paddle beneath the dreamy dome while soaking up the views. Prefer to keep it cool? Head to the Café under the dome for a refreshing sip and a nibble before moving on to the boutique for some retail therapy. So trust us when we say, it's more than worth the detour. Best part? UAE petrol prices in July: will petrol prices go up or down?
Fuel prices have held steady for three months – but will that change soon? Petrol heads and commuters, take note – UAE petrol prices for July 2025 will be announced any day now and the big question on everyone's mind is: are we about to see a hike at the pump? So far, it's been a relatively smooth ride. Petrol prices have remained virtually unchanged for the past three months, giving drivers a welcome breather after the fuel rollercoaster of 2024. For example, since June 1, prices at the pump have been: E-Plus 91: Dhs2.39 Special 95: Dhs2.47 Super 98: Dhs2.58 Diesel: Dhs2.45 That's the same price tag we saw in May and not much different from April. In fact, petrol is now considerably cheaper than this time last year – Special 95 was Dhs2.88 per litre in July 2024, compared to Dhs2.47 now. What's behind the fuel freeze? After wild swings in global oil prices throughout 2022 and 2023, things have cooled off. The UAE's Fuel Price Committee – which lifted the pandemic-era price freeze in 2021 – has let market forces dictate fuel rates ever since, meaning we get monthly price shifts based on international trends. But with global crude oil prices showing moderate stability lately, the UAE's petrol prices have followed suit. Diesel prices have seen the biggest shift recently, dipping from Dhs2.52 in May to Dhs2.45 in June. Here's a quick flashback to fuel prices over the past few months: Prices in Dhs per litre E-Plus 91 Special 95 Super 98 Diesel June 2025 2.39 2.47 2.58 2.45 May 2025 2.39 2.47 2.58 2.52 April 2025 2.38 2.46 2.57 2.63 March 2025 2.54 2.61 2.73 2.77 February 2025 2.55 2.63 2.74 2.82 January 2025 2.43 2.50 2.61 2.68 So, what can we expect in July? The new rates are expected to be announced in the final days of June, so all eyes are on the Fuel Price Committee. While current indicators suggest prices could stay stable for a fourth month, any fluctuations in global oil markets could push prices up or down. Until then, keep those tanks topped up – and watch this space. We'll update you the moment July's prices change. In the meantime, if you're looking to save at the pump, consider filling up just before the end of the month – just in case. A two month sailing programme is coming to Abu Dhabi for wannabe sailors
Abu Dhabi's shoreline is about to get a little more traditional – and a lot more exciting. Starting June 30, the Noukhthat Abu Dhabi programme sets sail from the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, inviting over 200 young sailors and sea-loving hopefuls to dive into the rich world of traditional Emirati dhow sailing. Backed by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, this two-month initiative isn't just a summer activity – it's a cultural mission. The programme is focused on teaching the fundamentals of dhow navigation, with an eye on preparing participants for the 22-foot dhow racing scene, a key pillar of the UAE's maritime identity. Supported by @AbuDhabiSC, Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy has organised Noukhthat Abu Dhabi. Starting 30 June 2025, the two-month programme will provide training in the fundamental skills of sailing and dhow navigation, enhancing youth connection with UAE maritime heritage. — مكتب أبوظبي الإعلامي (@ADMediaOffice) June 23, 2025 But this isn't only about learning how to handle a sail. The Noukhthat programme is designed to spot rising talent, with specialised coaches on the lookout for young sailors who could one day steer the iconic 43-foot and 60-foot racing dhows. In other words, the next generation of dhow captains might just be training this summer, right here in Abu Dhabi. The weekly sessions will run along the capital's waterfront, blending traditional skills with a forward-thinking vibe that speaks to today's youth. It's a strategic move to keep heritage sports alive – and make them relevant – as the UAE continues to celebrate the Year of Community. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just intrigued by the curve of a wooden dhow catching the Gulf breeze, this is one programme that ties the past to the future with skill, spirit and saltwater.
